In Haifa Group we think like farmers. Being acquainted with the farmers work and aware of the challenges that they face, we attempt to provide products and services suited to specific working environments. Haifa teams worldwide maintain continuous contact with growers, hearing from them about their needs, in order to share our knowledge and provide them with solutions that consider their preferences. Haifa Group prioritises the sustainability issue and leads extensive initiatives to create a sustainable environment and cultivate an economy and society. Agriculture strengthening, sustainability and environmental concern are an integral part of our DNA. For its deep connection to the environment, Haifa Group were excited to accept the challenge of being part of the global effort and to act in accordance with the goals of the UN Sustainable Development Program, with the aim to encourage other businesses around the world to embrace responsible social policy.
Haifa is working to achieve the 17 principles of the Sustainable Development Program, which include, inter alia, human rights and equality between the genders, empowering women and girls, eradicating poverty in all its forms and preserving the environment. The importance of correct nutrition for horticultural crops was well highlighted in Queensland last year, with heavy rains in December and January causing considerable production losses in central and southern regions. Cherry and grape tomato producers David and Miette Evans said their hydroponic plants withstood the wet conditions in the region, holding up well despite excess moisture and disease threats. They attributed this to plant robustness as a result of using Haifa Poly-Feed™ GG (Greenhouse Grade) water soluble fertiliser from planting right through the growth cycle “Our tomatoes receive excellent, targeted nutrition from day one and were strong and vigorous enough to survive the wet conditions this summer with good disease resistance,” David said. CherriesRecently, an enormous strawberry grown in Israel has entered the Guinness Book of Records. Weighing in at an impressive 289 grams, the strawberry was cultivated using Haifa Group’s unique nutritional products.
The strawberry was developed by Israel's Agricultural Research Organisation, Volcani Centre in Rishon LeZion, and is approximately 17 cm wide and 12 cm long. The four Ariel brothers who run the business today are second-generation farmers, and they have been using Haifa Group's potassium nitrate-based nutritional solutions for many years. In addition to strawberries, the family grows cauliflower, peppers, and zucchini. StrawberriesCauliflowerZucchiniPeppersJust try us and find out for yourself!
