These companies have influenced SAHPRA already to such an extent that only CBD isolate or Synthetic CBD has been allowed to be imported and sold within our borders. Small time growers and production facilities find it increasingly strenuous to comply with the legislation.
There are added expenses to the production of CBD and isolate products, which make it way more costly and time consuming than producing full Spectrum CBD products, which are far more beneficial medicinally and have a more natural and balanced result.
These are compounds that act harmoniously with our endocannabinoid system (or ECS) in order to help each cell reach homoeostases and function optimally.
The ECS (discovered in 1992) regulates an array of the body’s functions including appetite, mood, pain response, circadian rhythms, stress management and more. Cannabinoids such as THC and CBD mimic the chemical behaviour and make-up of endocannabinoids.
They interact with the cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) found throughout the central nervous system, immune system and brain. These compounds regulate neurotransmitter release when interacting with the CB1 and CB2 receptors, thus helping to manage pain and stress levels naturally and effectively. In contrast, opioids act on the brains’ opioid receptors to stimulate feelings of euphoria and pleasure. These drugs are designed to share a chemical structure similar to the brain’s natural transmitters, essentially masking the pain by tricking the brain into thinking that the problem has been resolved.
No further aggressive healing action is taken by the body, the medication wears off and the problem persists. Opioids are also extremely addictive – to the point where many individuals are now using marijuana to wean themselves off painkillers in order to break an opioid addiction.
Full-spectrum CBD products contain small amounts of other cannabinoids like THC, as well as flavonoids and terpenes, which are also beneficial compounds that are distinctive in their unique scents and flavours.
On the other hand, CBD isolate products go through further refining until they only contain CBD and none of the other beneficial compounds. More costly to produce, The Big-Pharma companies want legislation to push for ever more complex and costly processes in order to force out small businesses and retain market share.
